Nudity: It’s an Age Thing

27 Feb

Being naked. We all do it, quite frequently, if you think about it.

But what about getting older makes us more prone to taking our clothes off?

When I was little, I feel like for sleep-overs or just in general, kids take off their clothes like its no big deal. Hell, I was always naked as a kid. But then, even though teenagers are in this hyper-sexual state, they seem reluctant to taking there clothes off. I remember when I was probably 15, my best guy friend refused to take his pants off to jump into the pool until none of us were looking.

Now, at the age of 25, I feel like I’ve seen more friends and people naked than ever before. When you go to the gym, you see old ladies running around naked like it ain’t no thang all the time.

Butt ass naked old ladies.

Even I feel a change, and I have no idea when it happened. I tend to be the person who, if you ask, I will say you don’t get to see me without my clothes on unless we are intimate, because I don’t take my clothes off. And suddenly, I’m like here, let me take my shirt off (for reasons XYZ…I don’t just run around naked for no good reason, unless that reason is lounging around the house without pants on).

I just went to some hot springs with a couple of girl friends, and we were disappointed it was clothing-mandatory.

Maybe it is because during puberty, everyone’s bodies are in this weird limbo. Maybe as we get older we get more comfortable with what we look like under our clothes. Maybe, you reach an age in which you just don’t give a fuck. We call that the “I do what I want!” phase of life.

Can you relate? Why do we revert back to this childhood phase of being without clothes? Do you walk around butt ass naked in the locker room after a swim or a workout?

I remember being, like, 8-10 and in the locker room at the YMCA and…NAKED OLD LADY! *faint* I wasn’t expecting it…not by a long shot.

Oddly, in my teens, the friend that I hung out with most wanted to be a fashion model and her mom signed her up for a lot of things along those lines; she was used to be naked and changing around a lot of other women. We would share dressing rooms at the mall when it was crowd because, “You don’t have anything I don’t!”

And then I saw everyone naked from the ages of 21 to about 28. Hooray alcohol! :-P

Having a kid opens up a whole new level of, “I really don’t give a flip who sees me naked; half the world has already seen it through the process of OB appointments and delivery anyway! What’s a few more people?”

There will never be a better feeling than that moment when you peel off a wet bikini and the air hits bare skin. Jussayin’. But somehow, in the locker room, I’m still all business about getting dressed. It’s not my bedroom…I don’t really feel like I should just waltz around naked there.

God. The naked old lady at the YMCA. Been there. Seen that. Wanted to die.

And with the sharing the changing room…I have totally done that, but I guess I was never taking off my bra or underwear. In middle school and high school we had to take showers, but we were still very much about keeping our towels around us until our bra and underwear were on.

I think that might be what I’m lacking, though, is that alcohol phase, so every time I see someone naked I’m perfectly sober, and have to consciously think about what to do with my eyes.

LOL If it makes you feel better, it’s not much better intoxicated. Rather than,”What do I do with my eyes?!” There are things like, “Must not reach over and jiggle testes…camera phones and all that…no matter how much fun it seems like right now…” and “Whoa. Someone drew the short straw! Awfaq. I’m going to have to try to pretend that was too drunk to remember how small that is tomorrow…”

Have I ever told you how much I love you?

naked=natural. it is society and religion, i feel, that made “us” feel that being naked is dirty. when i have lived with a woman, as in a relationship, i/we spent many hours naked. and not in a sexual way. just relaxing, showers together and of course sleeping as in really sleeping. i still spend as much time naked as possible when home. i get home and off come the clothes, esp. in the summer. i will go outside naked. not that anyone can see me as my place is somewhat secluded and if they did, so what. if they havent seen a penis, then maybe it is time they did. lol i have no problem being naked, i dont have the body someone would drool over or anything. but all the parts work and i know how to use them. ;)

I feel kind of weird putting my naked body on things guests use, so I waltz around in my bra and underwear a lot (boob sweat is not something I enjoy), but only occasionally will I be completely naked.

You would think that living in the mountains meant I could be as naked as I want, and as much as I want to go outside naked, my house isn’t very secluded. I have 2 neighbors on either side, and there is a clear view of my yard from the mountain highway. Maybe I’ll be a little more daring this summer.

my house is pretty secluded and if someone really wanted to get nosy, they would have to drive up to my gate and look in or, look down from an aircraft. lol

Through middle school and high school, I was the girl that changed in the bathroom stalls – because I was so self-conscious of being fat. At some point, around 18 or 20, I stopped giving a rat’s ass. Now I walked around naked pretty much any time it’s acceptable. If someone in the locker room doesn’t like it, they can avert their eyes. Same for my boyfriend’s neighbors, haha.

While I don’t care too much about being seen naked by another woman in a locker room, I will still try to minimize what I’m showing. However, I do not want random men seeing me naked. My guess is that people care less as they age because they’re more comfortable with their bodies. Also, by the time someone is wrinkly and sagging, there isn’t much sexual appeal (but there always are exceptions), so maybe there’s less of a need to cover up because it’s less likely someone will want to ogle that.
